Wet Pond

As many of you are aware, we use a "wet pond" to process the surface run-off waters into an environmentally safe condition.  This is a natural process which does not use added chemicals.  Below are links to a few photographs of the wet pond and to a City site talking about them.

Pond Maintenance and Mowing:

The pond itself is maintained by the City of Austin Watershed Dept. The people who actually come out and mow are funded by Easter Seals. They mow all of the ponds in our area, we have 12 just in our neighborhood. The small area in between the pond and the sidewalk is the HOA's. We receive many complaints about the ponds from homeowners not understanding that we do not own the property. If we have a wet year the weeds grow really fast in the ponds and it seems as if it is forgotten, but it isn't. If you need more information on the Wet Pond you will need to contact Easter Seals of Austin.  David Strychowski as a manager contact, his phone # is 440-7819.

Here is their maintenance schedule for our neighborhood:

1st: Oct.1-Dec.10
2nd: March 5-May 13
3rd: May 14-July 22
4th: July 23-Nov. 9
